Blackbox brain? Why it is necessary but not sufficient.

We see, hear, smell nothing without the brain, but the brain perceives nothing without our sense organs. The approximately 86 billion nerve cells are flexibly interconnected, and the brain is plastic - it changes according to requirements and use. With the help of new techniques, the nervous system can be influenced: this is hopeful for the sick, but opens up unimagined new possibilities for manipulation. And what if artificial intelligence imitates human intelligence and surpasses the human brain? The Dürnstein 2023 symposium asks about the ethical and political consequences of neuro-research.
